Swan Lake
The second act of Swan Lake, with an innovative twist in the cast. Based on the music, choreography by Tchaikovsky and Petipa, this Swan Lake features a cast of dancers with gender equality that reflects current times.
At first glance it may look like a traditional version, with a moonlit lake, countless tutus and classic choreography, but beyond the surface there are new perspectives that the audience is questioning.
Swans are a symbol of beauty, love, trust and loyalty. These have no reference to gender, as the gender of these birds is often very difficult to distinguish. Even the iconic image of two swans in the shape of a heart cannot represent a particular gender. Swans are adored for their animal qualities and aesthetic appeal.
This production does not allow gender norms to control the cast, but rather the quality of the performers.
