The Junior Ballet de Barcelona (JBDB) is a knowledge-based professional program designed to prepare dancers ages 18–22 for successful careers in dance.
We combine world-class training, personalized mentorship, and real-world performance experience to give young dancers not just the skills to excel technically and artistically, but also the professional tools and resilience they need to thrive in auditions and company life.

Year 1 — Foundational Growth (By Audition)

When do you begin accepting applications for the 2026/2027 season?GCDanceEvents continuously considers candidates year-round and keeps a detailed file of all applicants, including which season they are interested in. In some cases, dancers may be invited to join mid-year if a spot becomes available. Registration for the 2026/2027 season will close on May 31, 2026. We encourage dancers to apply early to have the best chance of securing a place.

How do I audition for the JBDB?All auditions are managed by GCDanceEvents, our trusted partner for casting and recruitment. There are two ways to audition: Live auditions held worldwide through GCDanceEvents. Video submissions for those unable to attend in person. What is the weekly schedule like?Dancers train Monday–Friday, 9:30am - 4pm, including: Daily classical ballet Pointe, men’s classes, and partnering Contemporary dance and improvisation Repertoire rehearsals Conditioning and injury prevention Professional development workshops Performance preparation *During production weeks, evenings and weekends may be added.

When does the program start and how long is the commitment?The JBDB program follows the Ballet de Barcelona company season, typically beginning in September and finishing in June or July. Exact dates and schedules will be provided upon acceptance so you can plan accordingly.

Is there tuition to join the JBDB?Yes. The Junior Ballet de Barcelona is a tuition-based program that provides world-class training, coaching, and performance opportunities throughout the season. Full Season Tuition: €7,000 + Registration Payments can be made in full or in two installments only. Please note: At this time, we do not have scholarships or financial aid options available.

Do you provide housing or meals?No, we do not provide housing or meals. Dancers and their families are responsible for arranging accommodation and living expenses during their time in Barcelona. Many of our international dancers choose to share apartments with other JBDB participants to create a supportive, community-like environment.

Do you accept international students?Absolutely! We are proud to welcome dancers from around the world, both from inside and outside the EU. Our program thrives on diversity and the unique perspectives each dancer brings.

What visa is required for international dancers?EU citizens or permanent residents: No visa is required. Non-EU dancers: A student visa is required, which can be arranged through a local language school or university in Barcelona. We will provide an official acceptance letter and guidance to help you through the process, but please note that JBDB does not directly sponsor or handle visas.

Does completing the JBDB guarantee a position with Ballet de Barcelona?Not automatically. While there is no guarantee of employment, many JBDB dancers are considered for Apprentice positions with Ballet de Barcelona after completing one full season. These opportunities depend on individual progress and company needs.

What performance opportunities will I have as a JBDB dancer?JBDB dancers perform in a variety of settings, gaining valuable stage experience, including: Junior Company productions in theatres and festivals. Educational and community outreach performances Selected performances alongside Ballet de Barcelona’s professional company. These experiences help dancers grow as artists while giving back to the community.
