Élise Morchain
Dancer
Saint-Saulve, France.
Élise Morchain was born in Saint-Saulve, France, and trained at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she developed a strong classical foundation while being exposed to a wide range of choreographic and artistic approaches. In 2017, she was awarded the Gold Medal in the advanced classical category at the Concours de Danse de Roissy, marking an important achievement during her early training.
Élise joined Ballet de Barcelona’s Junior Program in September 2022, gaining valuable experience within a professional company environment while continuing to develop her technical and artistic skills. Through the program, she had the opportunity to work alongside the company’s professional dancers and experience the demands of a professional production setting. In September 2023, she transitioned into the professional company, marking an important step in her career and continuing her development as a member of Ballet de Barcelona.

Since joining the company, Élise has explored a wide range of classical, neoclassical, and contemporary repertoire. Her work includes contemporary productions such as Chronos, Narcisa, and #YOUCHARGEME, allowing her to explore different movement languages and expressive approaches. Within the classical repertoire, her interpretation of Myrtha, Queen of the Wilis in Giselle, stands out as a showcase of her technical precision, commanding stage presence, and dramatic intensity.
Another significant milestone in her development has been her role as Carmen in Ballet de Barcelona’s production of Carmen, in the choreographic version by Jimmy Gamonet. The role has allowed her to explore a character of strong personality, emotional depth, and theatrical presence, further highlighting her ability to combine technical clarity with expressive strength.
Élise brings a combination of precision, commitment, and expressive depth to her work on stage. Her progression from the Junior Program into the professional company reflects the opportunities the program provides for young dancers to gain first-hand experience within a professional environment and develop the skills needed to take the next step in their careers.
