Maracaibo - Venezuela

Juan Mora is a Venezuelan dancer, choreographer, and teacher born in Maracaibo. He began his professional training at Bahareque Danza under the direction of José Luis Núñez, graduating in contemporary dance, classical ballet, and jazz. Alongside his dance training, he studied at the University of Zulia, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts, specializing in Dance, with choreography and dance pedagogy as important components of his academic formation.

He later moved to Caracas and joined the Ballet Teresa Carreño, where he performed as a member of the corps de ballet for several years. During this period, he also developed his choreographic practice, creating Espectros de piedra for the company in 2019, while continuing to work independently on different dance projects in Venezuela.

After further training at Pasodos Dance Center in Mallorca, Mora joined the Ballet de Barcelona in 2023 as a dancer. During his time with the company, he has performed in productions including The Nutcracker, Chronos, Tongues, and Giselle, among other classical and contemporary works.

His choreographic work has progressively become an important part of his career within the company. In 2024, he created #YOUCHARGEME, exploring the relationship between the body, technology, and contemporary digital life. In 2026, he premiered CORPUS, continuing his exploration of the body as a space for movement and expression. He also creates work for the Junior Ballet de Barcelona, integrating choreography into the training and artistic development of young dancers.

His career reflects the evolution of a performer towards a multidisciplinary artistic practice, in which dancing, creating, and teaching are part of the same process. His choreographic language establishes a dialogue between the technical tradition of ballet and contemporary movement practices, exploring the body as a space for research, expression, and communication.

Based in Barcelona, Juan Mora continues to develop his career across performance, choreography, and pedagogy, creating new work for both the professional company and the next generation of dancers at the Junior Ballet de Barcelona.
